About Us
Hi! My name is Laura Power.
The Vertigo Co
Hi! My name is Laura Power and I’m the founder of The Vertigo Co.
I have worked within the field of Neurological Physiotherapy since graduating in 2010 with a special interest in Vestibular and Cerebellar Disorders, having completed both the basic and advanced Australian Physiotherapy (APA) Vestibular Rehabilitation Courses in 2011 and 2012, respectively and the Susan Herdman Vestibular Rehabilitation Basic and Advanced Competency courses in 2013 and 2015. I’m also an Annual attendee of the Neuro-Otology Society of Australia (NOTSA) Conference, The Migraine World Summit and the Vestibular Disorders Association (VEDA) Life Rebalanced Live Conference, having presented at NOTSA on multiple occasions.
Vestibular Disorders in School-Aged Children and Adolescence
More recently, I have branched into the treatment of Vestibular Disorders in School-Aged Children and Adolescence in 2021, and annually attending the Boston Children’s Hospital Paediatric Vestibular and Balance Disorders Conference. I am also experienced in the assessment and treatment of Cerebellar Disorders, having worked for five years towards the advancement of a novel diagnostic system for the assessment and treatment of Cerebellar Ataxia. In my time as a Research Assistant, I have published seven first-author publications and co-authored over 30 publications in the field of Vestibular and Cerebellar Disorders. I am also interested in progressive neurological disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
In 2023 I also experienced my first bout of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), and have suffered from it repeatedly since this time, hence I understand first-hand what it is like to experience Vertigo, Dizziness and unsteadiness. I also live with Chronic Autoimmune Diseases, being Autoimmune Epilepsy, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Hashimoto’s Disease. Although these conditions are well controlled, I truly understand what living with Chronic Illness is like on a day-to-day basis.
